Terms of Service

LAST UPDATED · 13 September 2026

Welcome to VOLAR, an AI study assistant for student pilots and flight schools, available at volarstudy.com (the "Service").

The Service is operated by Juan-Pierre de Villiers, trading as VOLAR, of Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("VOLAR", "we", "us").

Questions about these Terms: juanpierre@volarstudy.com

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited, which acts as the merchant of record and seller of record for all personal subscriptions. Paddle's own terms and refund policy apply to the payment transaction in addition to these Terms.

1. Two ways to access VOLAR #

School access. Your flight school buys VOLAR under a separate written agreement with us (the "School Agreement") and enrols you. You may use the Service while your school's agreement is active and your account remains authorised by your school. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the School Agreement, the School Agreement prevails for the school. These Terms continue to apply to your individual use.

Personal access. You sign up yourself at volarstudy.com and use the Service on a Free, Pro or Elite plan. Personal accounts have no connection to any flight school and do not receive any school's documents, procedures or analytics. On a personal account the AI answers, and the knowledge checks, are built from published reference material for the aviation authority you chose at signup (EASA or FAA), organised by that authority's theory syllabus.

Some features are available only through a school, because they depend on documents that only a school holds. These include quizzes on a school's own operating procedures (SOP quizzes), the briefing simulator, school checklist flows, Community and school-specific AI instructions. No personal plan unlocks them, at any price.

2. Eligibility and your account #

You must be 18 or over to create a personal account. If you are under 18, you may use VOLAR only through a flight school that has enrolled you, and your school is responsible for any consent required from a parent or guardian.

Your account is personal to you. Keep your password confidential. Do not share your account, your login or your subscription with anyone else. We may suspend accounts that appear to be shared.

The information you give us must be accurate. Creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated free trials or to avoid usage limits is a breach of these Terms and we may suspend or close the accounts involved.

Tell us promptly at juanpierre@volarstudy.com if you believe your account has been compromised. If you have school access, your school's administrators can manage, suspend or remove your account under your school's own policies.

3. The AI study assistant: important limitations #

VOLAR uses artificial intelligence to answer questions, generate quizzes and knowledge checks, run practice briefings and grade simulated exercises. You understand and agree that:

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or currency of any output.

4. Plans, prices and billing #

Free plan. Free to use, subject to the daily and lifetime limits published on the Plans page, such as the number of AI questions and knowledge checks a day. We may change those limits, and will give notice in the Service before a reduction takes effect.

Trial. New personal accounts may receive a trial with Pro features subject to a fixed budget of usage and an expiry date, both shown to you at signup. The trial requires no payment card and does not convert to a paid plan automatically. When it ends, your account continues on the Free plan.

Paid plans. Pro and Elite are sold as monthly or twelve-month subscriptions. Prices are shown on the Plans page inclusive of any tax due in your country. Paddle collects payment and issues your invoice.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term at the same price and term length, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings or through the link in your Paddle receipt. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the term you have paid for, and you keep access until then.

Price changes. We may change prices for new subscriptions at any time. For an existing subscription, we will give at least 30 days notice before a price change applies at your next renewal, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

Pause. Where offered, you may pause a subscription for up to two months. Access is suspended while paused and billing resumes when the pause ends.

Failed payment. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend access to paid features until payment succeeds.

5. Right of withdrawal and refunds #

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another territory with equivalent law, you have 14 days from the start of your subscription to withdraw from it and receive a refund.

Because the Service is digital content supplied immediately, you will be asked at checkout to consent to immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once you begin using the paid features. If you do not use the paid features, the 14-day right remains available in full.

Our refund position beyond the statutory right. If you have not meaningfully used your paid plan, contact juanpierre@volarstudy.com within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you. We do not refund partly used terms outside the statutory right, and we do not refund a term because you stopped flying, changed schools or stopped studying. Consider a monthly plan if you are unsure.

Refund requests are handled by us and processed by Paddle. Nothing here limits any statutory right you have.

6. Acceptable use #

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, and will inform the school where a school account is involved.

7. Content and intellectual property #

Your school's documents belong to your school. The school grants us a licence to host and process them solely to provide the Service, as set out in the School Agreement. We claim no ownership of school content.

Published reference material used on personal accounts remains the property of its publisher and is made available to you for personal study only.

The Service belongs to VOLAR. The software, design, simulators, trainer content, fictional navigation data and branding are our intellectual property. These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own flight training while your access is active. They transfer no ownership.

AI outputs are generated for your personal study. Where they derive from a school's documents, they carry the same restriction on outside distribution as the underlying documents.

If you flag a question, report a defect or send feedback, you grant us the right to use that feedback to improve the Service without obligation to you.

8. Privacy #

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process and why. In summary: for personal accounts we are the data controller, and for school accounts your school is the controller and we process data on its behalf under a Data Processing Agreement.

9. Availability and changes to the Service #

We work to keep VOLAR available and reliable, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, add or remove features, and we may suspend the Service for maintenance.

If we permanently remove a feature that was a material part of a paid plan you are on, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your current term. Any specific uptime commitment to a school is set out in the School Agreement, not here.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability #

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these Terms limits the statutory rights of consumers.

11. Termination #

12. Changes to these Terms #

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will give notice in the Service and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we will refund the unused part of your current term. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes #

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings where you live. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
